SCOPE OF POSITION:

As part of the R&D team, the Associate Food Scientist will perform product development work to meet established project objectives supporting cost optimization targets.  This position will report into the R&D Manager for Productivity.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned

  • Conduct food product formulation and lab testing using recognized procedures
  1. Interpret results and develop an understanding of how to translate to possible solutions
  2. Obtain a working knowledge of plant processes and facilities
  • Conduct trials at pilot plant and production facilities
  • Write technical reports and maintain accurate and complete technical records
  1. Learn and utilize the online specification system
  2. Work in collaboration with cross functional team members

Qualifications

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 1-2 years of Food Product Development experience 
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Basic technical and theoretical knowledge of food science and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of food safety principles, GMPs and HACCP
  • Good time management and multitasking skills
  • Computer skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Basic technical/analytical/culinary skills
  • Ability to interact with others in manufacturing, lab, and office environment
  • Demonstrated motivation and creative problem solving skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

 

EDUCATION:

  • B.S. Food Science or equivalent

 

TRAVEL:

  • 25-40%
