Job Description:

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Compliance Coordinator collaborates with ingredient suppliers to Publix Manufacturing and co-manufacturers of Publix store brand products.  This includes verifying supplier food safety and quality assurance (FSQA) compliance to Publix requirements and specifications, conducting a detailed analysis and review of supplier FSQA records.  Serving as an internal support to the Supply Chain FSQA Manager, the incumbent is highly engaged with the Quality Assurance (QA) Managers at all Publix Manufacturing facilities and maintains strong relationships with food safety certification program owners, regulatory authorities, and related groups that promote food safety and quality assurance.  The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Compliance Coordinator reports to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager, Supply Chain.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

 

         Developing and maintaining systems that support Publix food safety and quality assurance

         Implementing a regulatory compliance review program to verify and analyze regulatory reporting in place

         Developing and reporting on food safety and regularly compliance programs to ensure clear and timely reporting related to food safety concerns

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

         Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology or equivalent experience

         At least five (5) years of experience in food safety and quality assurance for products in a Retail, Manufacturing, and/or Corporate Quality Assurance environment

         Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Certification,  HACCP Certification, and Food Protection Manager Certification  all obtainable within the first year of employment.

         Knowledge of Microbiology, Chemical Safety, Public Health, and Food Safety

         Intermediate knowledge of  Microsoft Word, Excel, ACT, Outlook and Internet Explorer

         Basic knowledge of Microsoft Access

         Excellent written communication and public speaking skills

         High work ethics and ability to manage confidential information

         Willingness to work after hours including nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

         Masters Degree in a science related field

         Six (6) or more years in food safety and quality assurance for products in a Retail, Manufacturing, and/or Corporate Quality Assurance environment

         IFT Certified Food Scientist

         ASQ Certified HACCP Auditor

         SQF Practitioner

         Knowledge of Publix policies, departments, code of ethics, philosophy, mission and vision

         In-depth knowledge of GFSI and Certified Program Owner audit formats such as SQF and BRC, including the application of auditor competence and alignment to food safety laws

         In-depth knowledge of Federal requirements regarding Food Safety compliance, including FSMA, Preventive Controls, Produce Safety and HACCP

         Basic knowledge of the CQA Private Label Look-up database

         Intermediate knowledge of the CQA Recall System

         Basic knowledge of Share Point

         Ability to speak multiple languages (i.e., Spanish, Mandarin)
