Food Safety Manager - Portland, OR

Summary:

As America's largest field tomato grower, we take great pride in our people and our processes which protect our customers and brand.

The successful candidate will be the gatekeeper for food safety and quality for the Portland location and will report directly to General Manager with oversight from Enterprise Food Safety Director. He/she will have the ability to collaborate with multiple stake holders and thrive in a fast pace business environment. The ideal candidate must be dynamic and have the ability to influence the organization to continue to excel in a food safety culture. The person must be able to learn quickly and manage priorities for the location.

Some Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections and tests such as pre-operational, ATP and microbiological
  • Manage internal and external food safety audits
  • Help implement corrective actions from audits and observations
  • Complete and monitor key process control measures
  • Manage employee training programs and records
  • Manage facility sanitation
  • Manage shelf-life retain program
  • Manage traceability documentation and mock recalls/trace-back for both products and packaging
  • Manage customer complaints and follow up with other functions to obtain and close out corrective actions

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Hardworking, dependable, safety conscious
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese preferred
  • 1-2 years industry experience in food safety/quality or internship experience preferred
  • Understanding of preventive controls and hazard analysis
  • Bachelorís degree in biology, food science, chemistry, or other related sciences is preferred however, we will consider candidates with relevant industry experience
