The product plant technologist oversees the quality of the products, understand
and monitors the production processes.
He/She is also in charge to implement the
innovation, renovation and industrial excellence project according the MBY
- Representative of Innovation
/Renovation and industrial excellence at the plant:
- Is the primary technical
resource at the plant for the development and implementation of MBY
changes in process or recipe, and the creation of new formulas (Rennet,
Starters, Salt, Calcium chloride…).
- Coordinates and manages any
development project (inno/reno
or industrial excellence) through the development process with DAMs and
the production department.
- Is responsible for the respect
of planning and procedures when performing trials. Can plan and
optimize his/her activity, taking both DAM requests and factory
constraints into account.
- Is accountable for the
validation of the performance level (raw material performance on the
plant P&L: fat and protein usage in BOM, scrap level BOM and
routing, off spec declass, volmas and curd,
- Communicates ideas/proposals
concerning the projects managed by the DAM and coordinators.
- Is also in charge to reach out
the MBY platform / coordinators for the best practices through the 5
MBB plants through the DAM.
- Trials preparation and follow
- Is responsible for trials
budget preparation in collaboration with the Development Account
- Is accountable for the
reliability of the results and the conclusion / recommendation of the
- Defines and sets-up a trial
plan for the DAM, Coordinators or plant manager (with support from DAM
- Processes data and carries out
trial reports. Shares conclusion and recommendation with technical
projects leaders or project teams.
- Continuous improvement:
- Works closely with all the
supervisors on the daily production concerns including but not limited
- Oversees and makes adjustments
to the daily cheese making processes when necessary.
- Analyzes and follows-up on
customer complaints to ensure the continual growth of Bel products.
- Develops and maintains all
necessary reporting to assess production performance. Partners with the
Sr. Manufacturing Manager and the Process & Packaging Supervisors
to set goals and KPIs for the department.
- Ensures compliance with
Company standards for cost control, off spec reduction, quality, OSHA,
safety, and complete on-time delivery at lowest possible cost.
- Proactively pursues any
necessary improvement projects identified.
- Is in charge of making
diagnoses and continuous improvement in accordance with the deployment
of the industrial performance program (KPI, PCS, Pilar, route team involvements).
- Communication and leadership:
- Provides leadership for
employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training
- Is a key person in the
implementation of projects (innovation, renovation, industrial
excellence), change management and training of operators.
- Leads and conducts meetings to
rally the employees behind common goals.
- Reports on current and future
workload, giving visibility on the portfolio to the plant manager and
- Manages his/her projects on
time and in full
- Part of the management team,
brings ideas or feedback on any topic belonging to the plant.
- Requires a Bachelor degree in
Dairy or cheese process, and 3 to 5 years’ experience in the dairy
- Food industry Engineer or
Dairy science degree + 2/4 years’ experience
- Excellent communication
(verbal, listening, and written) and interpersonal skills are necessary
- Requires an individual to be
self-motivated, work without immediate supervision and must be willing
to be hands on.
- Intermediate to advanced
knowledge of MS Office software required- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
- Strong organizational,
analytical and communications skills.
- Knowledge of continuous
improvement tools and lean methods including Reliability Excellence is
- Need to have flexibility to
work any hours/shifts.
