success. We are looking for a Director of Culinary & Implementation to
be based in Savage, MD, which is located on the Route 1 corridor midway
between Baltimore and Washington DC.
This individual will have a strong
working knowledge of product development and project management within the
food industry, and will lead teams consisting of 2 Implementation Managers,
2 teams of implementation chefs, a Culinary Manager, a food scientist, a
team of culinary chefs and an admin, located in two manufacturing
facilities based in Phoenix, AZ, and in Savage, MD.
While leading the development of our
meals and ensuring operational success, he/she will be responsible for
executing the strategic menu and product direction, provided by the
Director of Commercialization. In addition to strong leadership, core
requisites of this position are a strong sense of team, creative and
innovative thinking, and
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manages both the culinary
research and development team and the new product implementation teams
in our two facilities.
- Overseas the culinary
development process from ideation to launch, including but not limited
to meal prototyping, ingredient sourcing, product samples for
photography, recipe development, operational trial runs, etc.
- Supervises the Implementation
Team in validating operational parameters for process controls within
- Establishes testing
parameters for meal quality and preservation with Director of Food
Safety and external consultants.
- Coordinates recipe scale up
with Operations to minimize impact on production and maximize
- Evaluates and make
recommendations concerning the application of new ingredient,
processing technologies and equipment with Supply Chain, evaluates
potential new ingredients, new vendors and co-manufacturers to ensure
they meet the company’s requirements for raw material supplies.
- Overseas the label approval
process for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Fully investigates, develops,
and presents alternatives for team processes and procedures.
- Perform all other duties and
special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master's degree in Food
Science, Quality, Microbiology, or related field is required
- 5-7+ years of Product
Development, R&D experience
- Experience managing a large
team is required
- Experience managing a team
remotely is preferred
- High level of computer
- Manufacturing experience in
Ready to Eat Foods preferred
- Experience with product
development in the natural or health food industry preferred
- Strong business acumen and
demonstrate business knowledge by leading discussion and direction on
project work with the organization and determining impact of
department work on the overall company and other departments
- Ability to work collaboratively
with other departments
- Ability to work with a high
level of autonomy
