This position is located in our HQ in Fremont (NW OHIO) and support our 3 manufacturing facilities in Ohio. This role will provide technical leadership for the design, development and implementation of new, refreshed and cost-optimized products. Staying abreast of the latest food technology and food safety laws, regulations and policies, role will ensure the integrity, consistency and quality of all products produced. Will also be responsible for the administration of the label program, specialty food programs, and supply chain quality.

Qualified candidates should possess the following skill sets:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Applied Sciences, or another related field
  • 5-10 years of work experience in Research & Development; should be combined with demonstrated record of accomplishments.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills; including team leadership, problem solving, critical thinking, strategic thinking, decision making and creativity
  • Must be a food aficionado; must be able to gauge texture, taste, appearance, and smell.
  • Demonstrates experience in multiple product categories.
  • Strong technical expertise in food technology, food processing, and culinary skills, along with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • A proven record of accomplishment based on project management, across multiple projects, from ideation to commercialization
  • SQFI Practitioner, HACCP and PCQI certifications (or ability to attain)
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written with all levels of employees and customers
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities :

  • Builds and maintains project management processes, tools and reports.
  • Provides technical leadership and directs the design, development and implementation of products
  • Stays abreast of the latest culinary and food health trends. Keeps the organization abreast of latest information. Applies knowledge to develop new products or refresh existing products.
  • Oversees all RD documentation policies, keeping internal and external department and agencies information accurate and current.
  • Works closely with Quality Assurance to help support SQF and FSMA initiatives.
  • Plans factory trials, pre-production trials and launches, planning and leading trial meetings, ordering ingredients and packaging, collating factory ingredients, microbiological and nutritional analysis conducted, organizing and sending customer sales samples and setting quality attributes.
  • Monitor as needed plant trials, vendor product evaluation, labeling and specification creation and maintenance, and internal and external product database maintenance.
  • Co-Lead with Marketing and Sales, internal customer product sampling panels as part of development cycle, evaluate results and achieve target product profile to achieve a successful launch.
  • Organic/ Halal/ Kosher/ GMO / Gluten programs administrator across all locations
  • Label programs administrator across all locations
  • Supply Chain Quality administrator across all locations
