Summary

Provides onsite support, and direction for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all quality systems as directed by the Q&FS Mgr. Assures that all products and packs produced at the site are safe for consumption and conform to the intended product design. This includes supporting change management and process improvement as the Site Quality Champion. Directs the quality and product safety components of all Q&FS driven projects at the site through quality planning, specifications development, and project oversight for compliance to GMP's and other company policies and guidelines. Supports the site implementation of all new products, line extensions and continuous quality improvement projects including the effective execution of line trials and execution of process capability evaluations. Manages the internal quality audit function for the site and assures the effectiveness of the corrective and preventative action process within the framework of the plant's Quality Management System.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

  • Work with the Q&FS Manager to create and/or manage an effective Food Safety Plan. Create and implement internal audit requirements and support management of CAPA activities.
  • Must be able to assess risk, propose solutions and implement initiatives to continuously improve food safety compliance.
  • Create, review, implement and/or support policies and procedures to comply with quality and food safety requirements, to promote culture of audit-readiness, and to provide support to site personnel. Assist in implementation and training on new procedures as needed.
  • Create and support systems for trending quality performance and report KPIs or site metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers and stakeholders, driving collaborative solutions where resources are constrained, or have limited options. Support facility audits, including customer, third-party and/or regulatory inspections where appropriate.
  • Support the Quality Manager on specific or assigned projects.
  • Ability to work varying shifts.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • A four-year degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Two or more years’ experience within quality and/or food safety in food or pet food manufacturing preferred.
  • Must have or be able to achieve HACCP, SQF and PCQI certification within first year of employment.
