Overview:

This position will ensure QA/Food Safety objectives are met at a designed quality level consistent with the lowest cost while maintaining a safe work environment.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as an assistant to the Quality Assurance / Food Safety Manager
  • Discuss business issues such as new product design, records in need of correction, and changes in policy, HACCP plan, product flow, SSOP program, GMP program, and other prerequisite programs, both in writing as well as verbally, with SEP Management, team members, auditors, and government officials
  • Will assist in the preparation of records to be used in audits
  • Will participate in answering question, as well as retrieving and presenting records during audits
  • Conduct training courses on food safety and security, LOTO, team member safety, new products and review on current products
  • Review daily paperwork for accuracy and meeting with management, team members, and QA Technicians to ensure paperwork is corrected. These duties include holding QA Technicians accountable for their performance including disciplinary action
  • Filing records and maintaining records, both physical and electronic, so they can be quickly retrieved for audits as well as filing and maintaining archived records
  • Creating and maintaining data bases
  • Entering data on a daily basis, and analyzing data as needed for presentation
  • Conduct online research to improve and keep the plant current in food and plant safety
  • Deal with our service suppliers and customers as needed
  • Learn our product specifications, product labels, HACCP, MSDS, and prerequisite programs
  • Learn audit guidelines
  • Perform inventory and order supplies weekly
  • Issue supplies from inventory as needed
  • Maintain the office and archive rooms in an organized manner

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have the ability to operate on the level of an assistant to and representative of the QA Manager.
  • Must possess supervisory abilities
  • Possess great people skills
  • Be able to communicate verbally and well as in writing with auditors, customers, and managers as well as team members
  • Be able to maintain a professional attitude
  • Be able to focus on the job and not is easily distracted with issues outside of the job duties
  • Holds people accountable for mistakes in documentation
  • Be able to perform training classes with various size groups
  • Must know Microsoft Office including design and maintenance of spreadsheets and MS Word
  • Be able to file and maintain records
  • Must be flexible with changes of work tasks and hours
  • Must be self motivated
  • Having knowledge of poultry, HACCP, MSDS, and BRC a plus but not required
  • Must have good attendance
  • Must possess attention to detail
  • Must be able to conduct research
  • Work hours are Monday through Friday first shift with the understanding that there will be some weekend and evening work as needed.
