POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Foods R&D Division is seeking a Product Development Technician to support the development of new foods products. This is a key supporting role in which you will partner with scientists to collaborate on experimental objectives, design, and interpretation. You'll get to work in and help create a highly engaged, collaborative environment that maintains and develops well-known brands such as Hidden Valley, KC Masterpiece, and more! In addition, you will be exercising your curiosity so a good deal of independence is needed to be successful in this role.

 

 

Key Responsibilities (in descending order of importance):

1. Formula Development support -- ordering raw ingredients, conducting ingredient screens, completing all safety and storage documentation on ingredients, batching formulas and communicating formula observations to technical team/PRD lead.

 

2. Product stability -- manage several shelf life studies

 

3. Project support as needed -- set up supplies for consumer immersions, brain-storm sessions, ideation meetings

 

4. Co-lab manager --ensuring the lab is compliant, stocked and ready to go. Co-lead on Lab Clean up and maintenance activities.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Years and Type of Experience:

 

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience working in a lab, foods, or culinary.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly capable with lab practices, running & improving test methods, material preparation, and batch assessment.

Job may include the following:

  • Working in lab with various materials, including powders -- up to 50% of the time
  • Sitting in an office environment using a computer up to 50% of the time
  • Fine motor skills to prototype samples up to 25% of the time
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 to 50lbs up to 25% of the time

Note: Job duties include handling meat, vegetables, fish, milk, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, eggs and other food ingredient chemicals and allergens while wearing appropriate PPE. Some lab work may include including wearing a respirator while handling these ingredients.

Education Level/Degree:

 

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science program, preferably majoring in Food Science or related field of study OR Completion of Culinary or Confectionary School program or equivalent years of related work experience required.

Please note: This role may also consider GL 22 candidates with appropriate increase in experience and responsbilities.
