The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor for Hawaiian Foods is a key technical resource for the New Product Development teams and is responsible for all aspects of GMP and Quality Assurance for the Commissary and Small Batch Facility (SBF). The purpose of this role is to assist in the overall management of Quality and Compliance activities in the Commissary as well as, supporting product development and the commercialization of specialty products in the SBF. This role will support the Food Science Division as well as the Hawaiian Foods category. They provide leadership within the small batch facility and ensure compliance to procedures, GMP’s, customer requirements and governmental regulations.  The position reports directly to the QA Manager.



  • Develop and maintain a culture of GMP compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Assist to develop and maintain a Quality Management System for the Commissary and Small Batch Facility.
  • Partner with QA Manager and the Hawaiian Foods Leader to develop objectives that align with the company’s business goals.
  • Develop, maintain and implement formal food safety and quality procedures.
  • Develop and implement training programs.
  • Assist QA Manager to develop and manage Supplier Quality program.
  • Monitor and ensure strict adherence to food safety and quality programs.
  • Responsible for Product Release and Lot Traceability for products created in the SBF and Commissary.
  • Maintain food safety and quality documentations in a manner that meets SQF, company, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the SBF and Commissary Recall Coordinator and technical liaison with regulatory agencies, internal and external customers.
  • Determine requirements for SQF certification and develop plan to achieve certification within a reasonable time frame.
  • Manage Non-Conformance Product Disposition and Customer Complaint programs; develop trend analyses to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with QA Manager to develop KPI’s; maintain SBF specific KPI’s.
  • Maintains regular communication with QA Manager and others, as relevant, concerning any food safety / quality / customer issues on an on-going basis.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by QA Manager.
  • SQF Practitioner and/or HACCP Coordinator.  May also act as a backup.
  • Responsible for Quality and Food Safety functions as assigned and outlined in Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program.
  • Responsible for reporting all quality and food safety concerns / issues to QA.


  • 4 year college degree, preferably Food Science / Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or equivalent
  • 2 – 6 years of food / beverage manufacturing QA/C experience with at least 1 – 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP and perquisite programs.
  • Product Development experience is highly preferred
  • SQF Practitioner and / or hands-on SQF Level 2 / 3 certification experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience on food / beverage manufacturing and laboratory QA/C methods.
  • Hands on experience on Continuous Improvement and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Familiar with current food regulations, food safety / quality certification and 3rd party audit standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel, Words, Power Points, Outlook and Statistical Software.
  • Willing and able to work flexible schedule as needed.
  • Able to travel (< 20%) as needed.
