Position Overview

The Quality Manager position harnesses fundamentals of food science, microbiology, product development, training and engineering to lead our culinary manufacturing team to efficiently make safe and high quality products. Through positive and creative approaches to teamwork and innovation, the Quality Manager reports directly to the Senior VP of Operations and works closely with the Director of Product Integrity and Development and Production Managers. As a small but rapidly growing company, you will get amazing cross training and exposure to all dimensions of our operations, in addition to being a part of a stellar team and family.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages in execution, training and design of HACCP, GMP and SSOP programs and leads HACCP Team
  • Manages Supplier Approval Program via document management software
  • Manages 3rd Party Certifying Standards and Programs including Silliker GMP, GFSI, Non-GMO Project, Organic, California State Health, FDA.
  • Manages daily approval, troubleshooting, supervision and development of all Compliance and Quality Assurance Activities via RedZone Compliance Software
  • Manages Food Science Lab GLPs, SOPs, Inventory
  • Manage Monthly Self-Audit team and coordinate monthly audit corrective action task list to meet 3rd party and customer standards
  • Manages in design, implementation and execution of strategy to meet Third Party Food Safety and Customer Audit Standards
  • Manages with Sanitation Manager to accomplish Environmental Monitoring Program including Pest Control, Listeria and Bacterial Monitoring, Water Supply.
  • Works closely with Sanitation Manager to assure all SSOPs, chemicals and practices comply to accomplish all 3rd Party Standards.
  • Manages Recall and Traceability Program. Serves as Head of Recall Team. Implements program training to continually improve our Mock Recall Performance and Traceability integrity.
  • Expands scope of QA program by identifying new opportunities for improvement of products and their production processes with metric-based approaches
  • Presents Quarterly Reports to Executive Management and Ownership
  • Manage ESHA Genesis Database and perform all Nutrition Facts Analyses & Label Reviews
  • Train personnel in sensory and QC evaluation of all products and developing training materials
  • Participate on QC panels for new products, raw materials and WIP
  • Assists with R&D trials / test kitchen related to continuous process improvement, shelf life studies and new product development
  • Manages budget for QC supplies, Pest Control, GMP, Janitorial Supplies, Lab Supplies and employs continuous improvement in cost savings.
  • Manages Departmental Metrics and KPI’s to measure performance of individuals and teams.
  • Mentor and build talent / team for Quality Assurance and Production staff. Provide performance reviews at least annually.

Non-essential Job Functions

  • Assists R&D and Production team during Commercialization and R&D Trials
  • Participate in management and production team meetings / presentations
  • Assist in training personnel on quality guidelines, safety and production SOPs

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must work in warm and cold environments
  • Work safely around chemicals and equipment
  • HACCP Certified
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, Genesis R&D
  • Ability to record, organize and interpret data
  • Ability to taste / smell and evaluate food or ingredients for quality parameters
