Summary Description

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the activities of our Quality Assurance/Food Safety department. An individual who holds this position can expect to:

  • Manage the Quality Assurance staff and ensure that all Quality Assurance and Regulatory programs are followed. Make sound decisions and execute quality oversight.
  • Execute quality objectives as outlined by the Director of Quality Assurance and adherence/execution of all company policies and programs associated with Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and work with Quality Assurance staff members to prevent process and/or product failures. Focus on continuous improvement of product quality through the development of quality plans, process controls, attention to process details and specifications while leading the quality training initiative(s).
  • Managing performance plans, work schedules, vacations, work assignments and special projects which may include training and personal development plans for direct reports.
  • Ensure that pre-operational and operational sanitation meets Company expectations. Develop and implement necessary verification activities including ATP monitoring to verify effectiveness of plant sanitation activities. Ensure GMP and Sanitation audits are conducted by the department as required with documented corrective actions and follow-up as necessary. Execute effective action in response to negative micro and shelf life data as part of the Companies continuous improvement initiative.
  • Complete reassessments of SQF Quality plan if:
  • Addition or removal of processing steps
  • Introduction of new product with processing steps not currently included in Quality Analysis
  • At a minimum, SQF Quality plan is annually reassessed
  • Manage the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System, including Food Safety fundamentals, the Food Safety plan and the Food Quality plan.
  • Initiate appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF System.
  • Communicate all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System to appropriate personnel.
  • In the absence of key personnel, the employee’s supervisor or qualified designee (an individual that has been trained in the key employee’s duties) is responsible to complete or delegate the completion of all required tasks and responsibilities.
