to our Product Development team!
Your role will be to source raw materials, gather
information, data entry and do technical research to support our busy
Product Development group.
Ideally you'll have a keen interest in Food Science
or Health/Nutrition and have related work experience or an internship or
two under your belt. You also understand that this is an entry-level
position with much room for advancement and you want to learn as much as
possible about Product Development. You have strong attention to detail,
initiative and organizational skills.
Protein Research is a growing and successful contract
manufacturing company for the nutritional industry nationwide and work
exclusively with clients to make powder drinks, energy bars, dietary

- Responsible for sourcing raw
materials for new projects and/or existing products that need to be
replaced and/or resourced.
- Works closely with Purchasing
Manager and Sales to establish priorities and upcoming projects.
- Contacts suppliers for
pricing, availability and supporting documents (i.e. CoA’s, Product
Specs, etc.) needed for approval of raw materials.
- Considers the relative costs
and benefits of potential materials in order to choose the most
- Analyzing and comparing
materials and their documentation to ensure they are a match or will
work for a specific product.
- Reviews customer labels and
ensures we are meeting label claim with our formulations.
- Creates new product codes,
item codes and BOM’s in ERP system.
- Organizes and files received
documentation physically and electronically.
- Using different computer
applications to manage large amounts of information, including
creating and editing simple databases, inputting data, retrieving
specific records, and creating reports to communicate the information.
- Using Excel spreadsheets to
manipulate, and format text and numerical data; insert, delete, and
manipulate cells, rows, and columns; and create and save worksheets.
- Assists in entering formulas
in Excel spreadsheets.
- Performs other duties as
assigned by supervisor/manager.
- Bachelor of Science, three to
five years related experience or equivalent combination of education
- Extremely organized and
strong attention to detail are necessary
- Commitment to excellence and
- Excellent communication
skills, written and verbal
- Technical aptitude and
ability to read, understand and analyze CofA’s, Supplement Facts, Product Specs, Etc.
- Excellent proficiency using
databases/ERP Software, preferably DBA Software
- Excellent proficiency with
Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
- Versatility, flexibility, and
a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with
- Good judgment with the
ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Ability to work independently
- Working knowledge of
- Strong knowledge of
manufacturing processes, computer and equipment validation, GMPs, and
- Above Average Math Skills:
Required for weight conversions, percent activities, heavy metal
calculations, label reviews, molecular weights, etc.
- Must be able to speak, read,
write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
