R&D Coordinator

Position Summary

The job of Research and Development Coordinator was established for the purpose of product development to achieve defined objectives as delineated by researching, developing, managing, planning, evaluating, implementing, and maintaining programs and services that support MZB strategic plans and objectives.

Primary Functions

  • Manages product development projects by developing new or modifying existing products meeting internal /external customer expectations
  • Oversees and leads multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
  • Maintains documentation, provides reports, and is point of contact for research and development data ensuring smooth and accurate transfer of information
  • Plans, organizes, and produces bench top samples and small scale production test batches, delivering product that meets internal and external expectations
  • Manages the fulfillment of sample requests by identifying, developing, and preparing samples
  • Evaluates product and develop equivalents by conducting analytical, physical, and organoleptic analysis
  • Conducts research, analyzes data, and develops conclusions for the purpose of providing accurate information and support
  • Collaborates with internal departments to ensure R&D initiatives are aligned with company and customer expectations from conception to commercialization
  • Explores and builds external relationships with customers and vendors for the purpose of developing, implementing, and/or maintaining services and programs
  • Identifies and tests new products, processes, ingredients, and technologies
  • Organizes, prepares, and participates in monthly shelf life validation studies
  • Validates Quality Control measurements to include moisture analysis gold standard
  • Performs duties associated with the Specification Specialist, as needed, to include creating and updating product specifications
  • All other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Research and Development

Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge Requirements

  • Food Science, Biology, or related Degree or a minimum of two years experience in a quality position in food, chemical, or agricultural manufacturing facility
  • Experience in third party internal auditing preferred but not required
  • Cupping skills preferred but not required
  • HACCP Certified
  • Internal Auditor Training SAI Global
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills with ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of the organization (both inside and outside the company)
  • Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to work within E1 Systems as it relates to Spec Master, etc.
