The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provides services
that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness and forests; protect
consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the
prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs
approximately 2000 employees.
This position is located in the Food and Drug Protection Division. This
Division protects the health, welfare and economic interests of consumers of
foods, drugs, livestock, feeds, fertilizers and medical devices by ensuring,
through inspection and analysis, that these products are wholesome and

Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Ability to learn, apply and explain State
or Federal laws or regulations pertaining to the manufacture, storage,
distribution and sale of foods.
Ability to learn techniques and understand how equipment is used and what
equipment is used in the production, processing, storing and sale of foods.
Ability to learn and apply the principles of food sanitation.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Valid driver's license
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
will undergo a background check in order to be commissioned as an Officer
with the US Department of Health and Human Services in order to do contract
work with the Food and Drug Administration.**
Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from a four-year college or
university with a major in biology, food science, home economics, or a
related field and one year of food regulatory experience.

combination of education and experience.
