Management Trainee - Hunter Farms Dairy - Full-time - High Point, NC

Involved with learning all areas of the Hunter Farms operation. Assist the Manager team to manage the production of milk and ice cream. Will be involved with learning all areas of the facility and assisting in the supervision of up to 25 associates in the Dairy. Assist in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Harris Teeter’s policies and standards.

Responsibilities will include interviewing and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; assist in appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Perform duties of all facility/plant associates as appropriate. This person will be involved in hands on learning of all processes at Hunter Farms with the goal to become an entry level supervisor.

Training will last from 12 -18 months. 


Hunter Farms operates 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to bring you the best quality dairy products. Since 1917, the Hunter Farms plant has gone from delivering raw milk produced from a small dairy herd, to procuring milk from 200 dairy farmers across the southeast.

The Hunter Farms name is synonymous with quality, supplying ice cream, milk and other dairy products to food markets like Harris Teeter.




·        Coordinate and supervise the day to day dairy functions.

·        Ensure that all plant Good Manufacturing Practices are being followed.

·        Comply with and enforce all local, state and federal regulatory requirements.

·        Regularly inspect mix making, flavoring, finished product and machine sanitation to ensure products meets all requirements.

·        Understand and communicate job expectations with associates.

·        Sample products to ensure proper organoleptic standards are met.

·        Communicate with appropriate manager on problems, progress and concerns.

·        Ensure that all assignments are completed and according to policies and procedures.

·        Understand, communicate and implement company policies, procedures and concepts.

·        Recognize both good and poor performance. Counsel and document accordingly.

·        Maintain adequate and accurate records for planning and analysis.

·        Follow through with the requests and recommendations of the Plant manager.

·        Participate in the budgeting process. Operate assigned departments to achieve financial objectives.

·        Practice positive employee relations. Be sensitive to the needs and concerns of associates. Treat them in a fair and consistent manner. Foster trust, respect, and integrity throughout the facility.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university with a Food Science or related degree.; 6 months to 1 year of dairy manufacturing experience or equivalent.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Manufacturing software.
