POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Experienced product formulation and development role that works cross functionally across various departments to lead the development of new products and reformulations of existing products to add value to the WhiteWave brand portfolio. The role has an emphasis on supporting product development and innovation for diary yogurt, dairy alternative yogurt, and cultured dairy alternative products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Work with cross-functional teams in the development of new product formulations and/or reformulations of existing products

* Manage a portfolio of assigned product development projects through the various stages of the product development life cycle

* Provide nutritional labeling, ingredient statements as applicable

* Source ingredients * Meet cost objectives

* Evaluate current processing capabilities

* Coordinate production start-up

* Facilitate product development by working with vendors

* Lead pilot plant testing of experimental formulations

* Lead plant trial testing

* Provide equivalent or improved product quality and cost savings by evaluating new suppliers/ingredients

* Establish production parameters and processing procedures by drafting product specifications * Confirm that products will meet code by conducting shelf life testing for new product formulations

* All other duties as assigned

PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

* B.S. in Food Science, Dairy Science or closely related field with at least 5 years of relevant work experience OR M.S. in Food Science, Dairy Science, or closely related field at least 3 years of relevant work experience required

* Prior significant professional experience supporting the development of yogurt, cultured dairy, and/or cultured dairy alternative products.

* Demonstrated examples of successful commercialization of yogurt, cultured dairy, and/or cultured dairy alternative products that establish points of difference from existing products with consumers required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Working knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations required

* Demonstrated experience in product development and formulation from concept to completion required

* Experience with food safety, HACCP, and quality regulations and programs required * Knowledge of experimental design and food sensory evaluation techniques highly preferred

* Must have a drive for results and demonstrated ability to move projects forward with a cross functional team

* Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support product development activities; approximate travel requirement is 25%

* Ability to safely work in a variety of environments including office, laboratory, and/or manufacturing plant settings where occupational noise and other hazards may exist. Position requires moderate lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting above 25 pounds
