QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT : Partner with our suppliers, internal and external partners to deliver outstanding food safety, quality, and sanitation that creates a world-class, strategic point of difference for FreshRealm and its partners.

Food Safety Specialist PURPOSE:

Work with suppliers to assure that all products delivered to the Food Packers meet approved specifications. In addition, work with suppliers to evaluate their food safety and food quality systems to assure compliance with FreshRealm’s requirements. Stay well-informed and support Operations to be pro-active on public health issues to protect the brand.

Essential Functions: (the position exists to perform these functions.)

  • Manage all voluntary supplier inspection programs. Review all results in a timely manner and based upon the findings, provide immediate feedback and support to restaurants.
  • Communicate and track the status for any suppliers or Food Packers that require corrective action plans .

Initiate appropriate actions to ensure that progress is made toward compliance with approved brand standards.

  • Develop Best Practices to support Operations.
  • Provide input into the content training materials for food packer. Provide additional training as needed to managers in each food packer location to support the delivery of Brand Protection.
  • Establish baselines for product quality and measure improvements through training and implementation of systems to improve food quality.
  • Manage the investigation and resolution of all Non-conforming product complaints, Supplier Approvals.
  • Assist in handling Foodborne Illness & Crisis Management for Foodborne Concerns.
  • Assist with new product development (Food Safety & Sanitation) as well as in the development of detailed measurable specifications and product sampling protocol to assure that all products entering FreshRealm Food Packers meet critical quality requirements.

The Quality Assurance Department umbrellas all concepts and therefore must think and act proactively in order to adequately support the growth and continued success of FreshRealm. Experience:

A minimum of 3 years and preferably 5+ years of public health or quality assurance experience.

Education Required:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Masters degree a plus, in Public or Environmental Health or other closely related science discipline.

Professional Registration:

Must be state or nationally registered as a Registered Sanitarian (RS) or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS).
