Creative Energy Foods is a privately owned, contract manufacturer of energy bars. We have been working with companies to develop and manufacture a wide variety of snack and sports nutrition bars for 19 years. Our manufacturing facility, in Oakland, CA, produces many types of energy bars including organic, gluten free, kosher and nongmo verified.

Job Summary

The Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance is responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs necessary to produce safe, high quality products. The FSQA Director works with manufacturing, purchasing, sanitation, R&D and management to achieve these goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee annual and ongoing employee training of GMPs, compliance with SOPs, sanitation and quality control.
  • Oversee in-house and outside laboratory micro and analytical testing to insure foods are in compliance with regulations and are of high quality
  • Work with sanitation department to improve sanitation program and correct deficiencies.
  • Responsible for internal audits and assist in corrective actions when necessary.
  • Report and analyze food safety and food quality data including consumer complaints, customer feedback, finished product results, ingredient issues, and product and processing specifications while developing corrective actions that enhance our processes.
  • Respond to customer request for quality assurance related questions.
  • Oversee compliance with the Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Controls (HARPC) provision in the FSMA
  • Responsible for understanding and leading the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (SQF) implementation and recertification.
  • Oversee CAPA program and investigation of customer complaints regarding food safety and quality.
  • Develop KPI’s, implement a quality management system (Unipoint), own the oversight of Quality Program
  • Drive down improvements down to the front line

Required

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in food science, microbiology or related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of supervisory food quality control and quality assurance experience in manufacturing
  • Certified in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point), USDA or FDA preferred
  • Certified in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF
  • Previous experience with GFSI, BRC, SQF and/or USDA audits, FDA recall program
  • Experience in developing and implementing quality assurance programs
