Manager of Food Safety and Quality

We are a 4th generation, family owned company that grows packs, and ships stone fruit and pomegranates out of Central California. Over the last 10 years we have expanded our interests into ready to eat, fresh cut products, and are continuously looking to better our business. We are currently in the process of starting up a cold pressed juice facility in addition to the pre-existing business, which is rapidly growing. This entails making major investments in modern technology, and the recent addition of a large HPP unit has made us the only family owned farm in the world to have one on site. We are devoted to our long-lasting mission of making healthy foods convenient and available to all, while also shortening the path from farm to fork.

We are looking for a person that has the following:

Management experience; Regulatory experience; Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams, internally and externally; Strong food/beverage processing and problem solving skills and Quality Control background; The ideal candidate has proven record of implementing food safety systems in farm, fruit, fresh cut or beverage industries – anyone with said experience in juice production is encouraged to apply.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To Implement and Maintain SQF or similar 3rd party, HACCP USDA, Organic, Kosher compliance programs

Overseeing and implementing HACCP, 3rd party food safety certification, GMP and other food safety and quality programs for the plant.

Supervising and training laboratory assistants

Maintaining inventory control of laboratory and GMP items

Conducting ongoing plant tests/Experiments for specification accuracy

Conducting general audits of quality system

Maintaining product specifications, MSDS, SOP and SSOP documents

Responsible for ongoing training in safety, quality systems, GMP’s, pest control etc

Ensuring compliance with product specifications, labeling, and regulatory standards

Providing oversight for the development of robust manufacturing control processes and related reports use throughout the plant.

Regulating agency inspection readiness, and for-cause inspections.

Ensuring proper coordination of customer-initiated audits and mock regulatory inspections, and managing regulatory facility inspections.

Managing documentation, reporting, and closure of compliance issues.

The right person must also be able to effectively self direct and manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment in order to produce commercially viable solutions.
