Bellwether Farms is hiring an experienced Quality Assurance / Food Safety Technician. We are a creamery located in Western Sonoma County and make delicious cow and sheep milk cheeses and yogurts.

Position Summary : The QA QC Technician will develop and oversee all of the food safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Develop, implement and enforce security and food safety standards, policies, and programs including HACCP, SQF, BRC, and GFSI, regulatory audits, food safety training programs, standard operating procedures (SOPís), product inspections, and standardized work instructions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain and audit Food Safety Programs
  • Develop and provide training for food safety requirements throughout the organization
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as SOPís, as well as maintenance of manuals, policies and procedures as relate to any food safety concerns
  • Conduct facility food safety audits as well as manage third party audits and customer audits
  • Compliance and audit readiness Ė achieve and maintain up to date standards and certifications for HACCP, BRC, Organic, customer requirements and regulatory agencies (USDA, FDA, Health Dept.)
  • Maintain Finish Product specifications and labels (nutritional, labeling, shelf life, etc.) to ensure compliance
  • Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products coming in and out of the facility meet food safety standards
  • Maintain and update existing food safety procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements
  • Assist buyers with training and educating potential suppliers to ensure compliance. Responsible for supplier audits and maintaining raw materials specifications to ensure compliance
  • Work closely with Operations Manager and General Manager on any food safety issue
  • Oversee proper maintenance and sanitation of all facility to comply with food safety requirements
  • Ensure that all company food safety procedures are followed and documented correctly at all times
  • Develop and manage the food safety plans (HACCP)
  • Lead HACCP, Food Safety and Food Defense Teams

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or other related field, preferred.
  • 3 Ė 5 years experienced in the food industry.
  • MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • HACCP certified required. HACCP ADV, preferred.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good mathematical and statistical skills required.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments.
  • Must be precise and accurate, well organized worker.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to perform in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good mathematical (basic statistical skills highly desirable), problem-solving and analytical skills.
