Position Purpose:

Manages the design/plan/validation and implementation of new products, line extensions, product improvement and technical service for Bay Valley Foods that meet product offering requirements.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex technical assignments with high value to the company under general direction (overall objective achievement)
  • Performs all responsibilities of Sr. Associate Food Technologist with higher project throughput.
  • Develop information for and issue product specifications, ingredient specifications, in-process control points and testing requirements.
  • Lead technical expertise on cross-functional project teams and technical oversight of internal and external manufacturing start-ups and ongoing technical service.
  • Demonstrates ability to influence project direction by providing technical input to the planning and decision making process.
  • Functions as Technical Leader for technical focused projects, providing direction and monitoring various associates, support groups or contractors as project dictates

Daily / Periodic Tasks

  • Design, execute and analyze experimentation.
  • Independently determines and develops technical approach to solutions on product development teams.
  • Supports, coordinates and conducts trial and start of up of new products. Finalize product and process specifications for start up of new items.
  • Communication to cross-functional group management.
  • Identifies and resolves technical conflicts, including resources, to ensure projects meet business expectations.
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with established safety standards and Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 2-4 years of food industry experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to represent function in a team environment
  • Ability to Interact and collaborate with cross-functional groups: Marketing, Market Research, Procurement, Plant Management, Engineering, Vendors, Consultants, etc
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in technical disciplines.
