The Director of Technical Services (R&D and
QA) is responsible for managing research, development and quality
systems with direct responsibility for some projects. This position
initiates, plans, directs, executes, and reports on activities related to
the development of new processes, improvements or cost savings. The
position also manages quality systems including quality control,
regulatory, raw material and product quality. This is an exciting

- Direct technical efforts
supporting business growth, including formulation development and
optimization, new product pipeline management and process
- Lead and contribute to
innovation, new product development, commercialization, product
improvements, cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Manage Quality Assurance to
ensure products comply with specifications and continuously improve
quality. Oversee quality audit, testing, reporting and regulatory
- Manage Food Quality and Food
Safety Programs, HACCP and FDA regulatory compliance including GMPs
and 3rd party audit requirements (GFSI).
- Identify and implement
alternatives for product and processes improvements and cost savings.
- Mentor team members and grow
their capabilities for contributing to the organization while
coordinating and managing the efforts of the Technical Services team.
- Serve as the technical
resource for new products, troubleshooting, product resolution,
continuous improvement, working closely with Operations, Customer
Service and Sales team.
- Maintain knowledge of new
food trends and identify opportunities for the company.
- Perform work procedures using
Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to ensure food safety.
- Responsible for working in a
safe and healthy manner, and to take reasonable care of the health and
safety of all other staff. Perform daily stretching and/or proper
ergonomics of workstation.
- Managers have a specific
responsibility for the health and safety of their direct reports and
other team members for which they have management responsibility.

- Perform special projects and
other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Food
Science, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent Scientific Discipline.
Masters of Science, Ph.D. of Science or M.B.A preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in
food product development, laboratory management, quality systems,
and/or food process engineering within a food/beverage company
- Demonstrated ability of new
product launches, product or process improvements and strong technical
leadership of projects.
- Excellent interpersonal
skills, ability to work in a team environment, strong sensory and
organoleptic abilities, and a deep knowledge of food safety, quality,
and regulatory environment including FDA, USDA and GFSI is required.
- Experience functioning in a
managerial position and mentoring team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft
Word, Excel and Outlook.
Physical Requirements / Work Conditions:
- Normally seated with freedom
of movement on a regular basis, operating office machines and handling
light materials and supplies.
- Normal exposure to office
environment. Occasional exposure to warehouse and manufacturing
- Must be able to work flexible
hours as needed based on production scheduling needs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Periodic physical activity
requires walking, climbing, bending, standing, pushing, pulling,
lifting and stooping.
- May spend extended periods

dexterity; and communicating face-to-face, on the telephone and in
