Chef’d is looking for a Director of Food Safety to join our growing team in El Segundo, CA.  You will be the Chef’d food safety leader-- responsible for our overall food safety program, compliance with regulatory standards, driving food quality initiatives, and leading the QA, QC, and Sanitation teams at Chef’d.  You ensure our customers receive the safe, fresh, high quality food they’ve come to expect from Chef’d.

Responsibilities

o    Implement and lead all food safety standards in Chef’d facilities and ensure proper protocols are being followed.

o    Continuous improvement of best practices/SOPs/GMPs to improve quality and food safety processes.

o    Manage HACCP food safety audits and programsManage all letters of guarantee.

o    Provide input on food safety issues to other teams and work with stakeholders on cross departmental initiatives.

o    Managed food safety teams across multiple locations.

o    Identify areas to develop and optimize quality and food safety programs across the company.

o    Gather data by developing new metrics and using the data to define ways to drive improvement.

o    Primary contact for food safety programs, research, sanitation practices, and regulatory compliance.

o    Act as food safety liaison to state and local regulatory agencies as well as identify where these needs exist in local, state and federal levelsImplement and maintain SQF program for certification.

Requirements

o    Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Food Microbiology, Food Science, Quality Operations or related field

o    Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in food quality/safetyPrevious experience overseeing food safety programs in multiple sites

o    Expertise in food safety (Raw and ready-to-eat)

o    Excellent ability to analyze and assess risk

o    Current knowledge of regulatory government requirements (i.e. FDA, USDA, etc.) rules and regulations

o    Must have considerable knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP,  Seafood HACCP, FSMA, and SSOP as it applies to the food industry PCQI certification & SQF practitioner

o    Established reputation to liaise with government regulatory agencies and consumer associations 

o    Expertise in handling product recalls, and assisting with damage controlKnowledge of Quality Systems Standards
