Position Summary: The FSQA Manager is responsible for providing proactive leadership and instruction in the area of Food Safety and Quality across the Home Chef operating network. This position is responsible for mitigating food safety risk by driving corporate food safety strategy and standardization across the all Home Chef production facilities. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of all aspects of the food safety program including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Manage execution and compliance of all corporate food safety related strategies, policies, and procedures across the Home Chef network
  • Manage HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plan and prerequisite programs
  • Ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulatory requirements (Federal/State/Local)
  • Conduct routine internal audits of all Home Chef production plants to ensure compliance to the Corporate Food Safety program.
  • Responsible for providing food safety related guidance across the organization
  • Develops food safety and manages internal and external relationships to achieve key functional objectives
  • Develops personnel to drive higher performance level
  • Trends the effectiveness for compliance and driving continual improvements.
  • Provide direction and guidance on quality and food safety issues for locations
  • Provide leadership and manage compliance to food safety program across the regions to maintain standardization.
  • Understand the need for continuous improvement in a world of changing regulations
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelorís degree in food science, food technology, microbiology or related field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelorís degree (Food Science, Animal Science, Biological Science or related)
  • In lieu of a Bachelorís Degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered, provided that the candidate has demonstrated technical proficiency in the areas of food safety, food microbiology, food chemistry, animal science, biology, food defense, bacteriology, food processing technologies, and/or food regulations & policy.
  • Associate Degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, food safety, food distribution, food manufacturing, supply chain, or related field
  • HACCP certification preferred
  • SQF Practitioner certification preferred
  • Knowledge of product traceability
  • Understanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices including those from FDA, USDA, and other state and local entities.
  • Basic knowledge of food microbiology, food safety, and food defense
  • Previous experience with GFSI, SQF and USDA audits
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
