Manager of Quality Assurance & Food
Safety The Manager of Quality Assurance & Food Safety leads the
process of reviewing, updating and approving
packaging and labeling projects for UniPros branded
and labeled products by coordinating all related activities with approved
suppliers, artwork developers and label printers. Additional
responsibilities include product specification development and maintenance,
product evaluations, communication with supplier QA departments and other
special projects as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ·
Primary responsibility for coordinating and approving all new
and revised packaging and/or labeling projects, for UniPro
branded products including coordination of artwork development with 3rd party
vendors and approved suppliers, and coordination of labels with 3rd party
label printers and suppliers. ·
Monitor and enforce graphic standards on all packaging types for
all UniPro brands and labels for use by 3rd party
artwork vendors, printers and select approved suppliers who conduct in-house
printing. ·
Provide QA support to product evaluations, writing product
evaluation summaries and writing product specifications for UniPro Private Labeled Products. ·
Manage the Test Kitchen functions (Scheduling product
evaluations, sample management, assisting in product evaluations, day-to-day
maintenance activities, etc.) ·
Review, update, and or approve supplier workflow assignments
within UniPros Material Data Management as they
pertain to the QA Department. ·
Investigate complaints and coordinate with supplier QA contacts
for resolution. Track, trend, and communicate to UniPro
members. ·
Participate in addressing regulatory issues pertaining to food
labeling that arise across the company and ensure compliance with current and
evolving regulations. ·
Maintain and revise company packaging and labeling standard
operating procedures (SOPs) as required. ·
Works across functional areas and communicates on matters
relating to product packaging and labeling and compliance. JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS ·
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biology,
Chemistry, or related field or equivalent work experience. ·
At least 3 years working in a food manufacturing or distribution
company, in Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Regulatory
Affairs, or Food Safety roles preferred. ·
Previous experience with packaging and labeling development
preferred. ·
Foundational knowledge in food regulations and compliance
standards with Food and Drug Administration and the United States Department
of Agriculture. ·
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. ·
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with
internal UniPro personnel, UniPro
Members, and the UniPro supplier community. ·
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications |
