Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effectiveness of the sanitation program through training personnel, and reviewing cleaning practices and documentation
  • Ensure documentation related to SQF and HACCP systems are completed correctly
  • Report all food safety and quality problems to other management, and effectively implement corrective actions to address these issues
  • Effectively drive continuous improvement of the food safety system at the facility

Job Functions:

  • Schedule, train, and supervise personnel responsible for quality and sanitation
  • Ensures sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) are developed and maintained
  • Ensures entire facility is cleaned, sanitized, and free of all residue and debris during the sanitation cycle. Ensure Daily Sanitation Master Schedule is completed and signed by personnel
  • Works with other members of management to improve food safety through recommending facility and process improvements
  • Implement food safety standards throughout the facility through training of supervisors, leads, and processing crew
  • Audits sanitation personnel practices on the floor
  • Ensure all containers with chemicals are properly labeled
  • Ensure personnel are following color coding procedure
  • Maintain a chemical and sanitation program and ensures it meets all federal, state, and company standards for sanitation effectiveness and employee safety.
  • Track inventory of chemicals
  • Track inventory of sanitation supplies (i.e. brushes, buckets, squeegees, etc.)
  • Follows company GMP policy, and ensure GMP compliance with personnel in the facility
  • Maintain training records for Food Safety procedures for sanitation and production personnel
  • Complete other tasks as necessary

Qualifications:

  • 4-yr degree in a technical field OR 5+ years experience in food safety, quality, or sanitation.
  • HACCP certification
  • Experience working in a facility certified in a GFSI scheme, preferably SQF
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and evaluate data
  • Excellent organization skills; previous experience working in a 5S or lean manufacturing environment a plus
  • Understanding of food microbiology
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Problem solving skills
