Food Safety Specialist

Summary

The Food Safety Specialist will monitor processing/re-pack operations, conduct pre-op inspections, execute environmental swabbing, track and trend customer KPIís and take the lead during third party audits. The ideal candidate must be dynamic, autonomous and structured. The person must be able to manage priorities and to show calm, rigor and control in particular and unforeseen situations. This candidate must demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills. The candidate will have the ability to collaborate with multiple stake holders and thrive in a fast pace production environment. This is an entry level position with potential to progress within the Lipman family of companies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and tests: such as pre-operational, ATP and microbiological.
  • Actively take the lead with internal and external audits.
  • Ensure implementation and follow-up of corrective actions when required.
  • Help coordinate Alchemy training.
  • Gatekeeper of product specifications.
  • Complete and monitor key process control measures.
  • Identify root causes with respect to customer complaints.
  • Lead mock recall/ trace-back for both products and packaging.
  • Provide training to management personnel and employees regarding various programs that are foundational to food safety such as GMPís, HACCP, pest management, preventive maintenance, sanitation practices.
  • Gatekeeper of all food safety documentation and regulatory compliance for the facility.

Qualifications

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hardworking, dependable, safety conscious.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
  • 1-2 years industry experience in Food Safety/Quality Assurance preferred.
  • Understanding of preventive controls and hazard analysis.
  • Bachelorís degree in biology, food science, chemistry, or other related sciences is preferred however we will consider candidate with adequate industry experience.
  • Possesses the ability to lead and instruct a part time support person.
  • Proven track record on management and execution of GMPs and HACCP.
  • Ability to increase and evaluate employee GMP's.
