Manufacturer of food packaging in the North Suburbs has an immediate need for a Regulatory Specialist to handle internal and external inquiries regarding compliance with company and regulatory agencies (USDA/FDA) guidelines and product specific information to ensure marketability of food casings and ingredients.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Regulatory focus on consumer goods/food law (USDA/FDA) with an emphasis in the USA/EU
  • Ensuring the marketability of food casings and ingredients
  • Assessment of raw materials, products from our own production as well as merchandise in accordance with food regulations
  • Handling internal and external customer inquiries regarding legal and product-specific information and documentation
  • Verification of supplier declarations
  • Close communication and cooperation with the Product Safety Experts of the Kalle Group, project managers in R&D, business development, sales and production during a product development process
  • Communication on behalf of Kalle with customers, suppliers and authorities in the field of product safety/compliance
  • Collaboration with developing a product safety database
  • Employee training

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Food Technology or comparable
  • 3-5 years of experience with compliance in Food Safety
  • Understanding of USDA/FDA guidelines
  • 21 C.F.R.
  • 9 C.F.R.
  • EAFUS database (Everything added to food in the United States)
  • GRAS Notices
  • FCN (Food Contact Notifications)
  • FSIS Directive 7120.1
  • FALCPA (Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act)
  • Bioterrorism Act
  • FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act)
  • Knowledge of EU Food Legislation (Directives and Regulations) desirable
  • Profound knowledge of MS Office
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
