Development Manager Ė Whitehall Specialties, Inc.
Responsibility: The Research & Development
Manager will manage all aspects of product development and drive innovation
and differentiation for Whitehall Specialties Inc. In partnership with the
Senior Research & Development Manager, sales, operations, quality assurance
and procurement, this position is responsible for executing objectives and
product development processes in order to ensure
alignment with brand standards. In addition the
R&D Manager will execute a continuous pipeline of product and packaging
innovation, existing product improvement and growth of existing product
lines and new product platforms. This individual must be self-motivated
with strong project management and communication skills.
∑ Leads and carries out
product development activities across multiple product categories including
plant testing and coordination of sensory testing, consumer insights and
customer required documentation.
∑ Identifies and manages
FDA/USDA regulatory compliance and labeling requirements.
∑ Determine and communicate
specifications and performance requirements of raw materials, product
batching and finished goods.
∑ Collaborate with
sales, operations, quality assurance and procurement to drive new business
∑ Identifies unique
product attributes and benefits to achieve brand differentiation related to
seasonal promotions, key business shifts and new product concepts.
∑ Develop and maintain
SOPís detailing procedures for product manufacturing in keeping with Good
∑ Assist in the training
of employees on technical aspects of food manufacturing.
∑ Interact with
customers to develop consumer tests appropriate for specific projects and
communicate results in a professional and concise manner.
∑ Research culinary
innovations tied to trends and translate findings into presentations for
senior leadership and key customers.
- Excellent written and verbal
communication skills with extensive presentation experience.
- Experience with quantitative
and qualitative consumer methods.
- Experience with sensory test
methods including descriptive analysis and discrimination test
- Ability to balance resources,
prioritize and effectively manage evolving customer demands.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- BS/MS in food science, animal
science, food process technologies, microbiology, or related area.
- General knowledge and
experience with product development, manufacturing and
