Quality Assurance Supervisor - Grandview, WA

This position is a leadership role within the Quality organization, supporting all areas of Operations in Grandview, WA. The individual will provide direction to the shift Quality Technicians. Additionally, this individual provides leadership and direction on Quality System programs to ensure product safety and quality. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and monitoring programs, analyzing information, and providing feedback for the improvement of systems and processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides direction to shift Quality Technicians
  • Prepares and conduct performance reviews for staff as scheduled
  • Administers company policies fairly and equitably
  • Provides training on Quality System programs to shift employees
  • Verifies corrective & preventive actions are completed within established deadlines
  • Audits to ensure cleaning and sanitation procedures are carried out, and documented according to plan
  • Monitors status of calibrated equipment and ensures adherence to the Calibration Program
  • Monitors and evaluates foreign material control procedures; adapts as necessary
  • Audits to ensure waste management procedures are executed according to plan
  • Ensures implementation and execution of GMP requirements
  • Ensures timely resolution for disposition of nonconforming product and raw materials
  • Ensures accurate documentation for vendor investigations
  • Evaluates, audits and continuously improves methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
  • Assists QA Manager in the development of procedures and tools for recording, evaluating, and reporting results

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Provides backup for Quality Lead Technicians during absences
  • Provides support to the Quality Manager in compliance investigations
  • Supports department managers on implementation and maintenance of company procedures
  • Supports implementation and on-going maintenance of the Product Safety Program (HACCP)
  • Assists in the development of long and short-term Quality Team goals
  • Supports Operations staff in quality issues from diagnosis, to corrective actions with an emphasis on process control and customer satisfaction
  • Supports the Recall/Withdrawal Plan
  • Provides input in hiring and disciplinary decisions based on company guidelines

  • Works in a safe, courteous manner while abiding by the Company’s safety policies and procedures
  • Maintains a clean, safe work environment for employees within OSHA and company regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Training, Experience, and Education Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, biology, or other related field
  • 3-5 years related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience in the food or beverage industry preferred
  • Microbiology and leadership of employees preferred
  • GFSI and FSMA experience a preferred
  • PCQI Certified preferred

Environmental Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lifts and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Sits at a desk for long periods of time
  • Stands on a hard surface for long periods of time
  • Demonstrates flexibility in moving from one duty to another at any given time
  • Adjusts to different work hours as needed
