Description

 

Responsible for leading all aspects of new beverage product development/productivity and related research, including product formulation, new process development and scale-up, test methods development, data analysis, communication with key suppliers and consultants, new ingredients investigation, product and process specifications development and research on related technologies. Key collaborator with cross functional Business team to achieve successful product launches. 

 

What you will do:

 

  • Responsible for the formulation and shelf life testing of new product prototypes, data recording and analysis, reporting of results and recommending next steps.
  • Ability to balance multiple work or project assignments.  This requires collaboration and flexibility in the face of changing priorities and a commitment to serving projects and business needs as required. 
  • Source and develop new external ingredient and/or co-processing vendors to source ingredients and produce new beverages.
  • Design experiments; establish project timelines for beverage development, and record findings of experiments.
  • Scale benchtop formulation to pilot plant scale equipment, including ingredient ordering, record keeping, and analysis of in process and finished beverages.
  • Conduct experiments to develop optimal operating conditions and ensure new products meet Keurig’s high quality standards.
  • Support scale-up activities at both internal and/or co-processor plants, to ensure successful launch of new products or process improvements.
  • Take a pro-active role in maintenance and improvement of products based on sensory, consumer feedback and/or manufacturing facility feedback.
  • Ability to anticipate project challenges and proactively generate alternative solutions to achieve desired results, so skills at critical-thinking, trouble-shooting and problem-solving must be strong
  • Train and teach employees scientific beverage formulation techniques and processes, including which process is best suited for specific product scale-ups.
  • Foster communications and build/manage relationships with internal teams and external teams, including vendors, co-processors, and consultants regarding new/refined product/process development, ingredient suitability, support scale-up testing, effective start up new production processes, and problem-solve technical issues.
  • Follow all Keurig Green Mountain policies and procedures.

 

 

Qualifications

 

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Engineering or related technical field preferred
  • 3-6+ years experience in job offered or related position
  • Consumer Packaged Goods Experience and Coffee Formulation Expertise from green coffee sourcing to finished beverage highly desired.
  • Proficiency in Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety Regulatory Standards
  • Experience with (a) working with outside vendors (co-manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, flavor houses) (b) new beverage formulation, data recording and analysis, reporting of results and recommending next steps
  • Up to 25% Travel
