Job Summary: The Food Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring that food products meet standards set by both the Company and regulatory authorities. May be responsible for developing and reviewing quality and safety policies, as well as, manage audits by 3rd party inspectors. Manager will oversee and train quality assurance team, provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary measures, monitor team performance, and engage in the full recruitment cycle as needed, and is responsible to oversee manufacturing and production processes.

Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for daily management and function of the company’s Quality Systems

SQF Practitioner responsible for development, implementation, and sustaining programs, processes, and procedures necessary for achieving and maintaining SQF 2000 certification

Responsible for hazard analysis critical control points (HACCP) development, implementation, and sustaining programs, processes, and procedures necessary to ensure the safety of products produced per established HACCP Plans

Primary customer contact for quality concerns

Provide technical support to address, correct, and prevent food safety and quality issues

Review and approve controlled documents pertaining to Food Safety and Quality

Develop, implement, and maintain quality policies, procedures, and work instructions for Food Safety and Quality

Provide training on quality systems, policies, procedures, and programs including but not limited to SQF, HACCP, Food Defense, Allergens, GMP’s, etc.

Primary auditor to monitor compliance to quality systems requirements

Lead company through regulatory compliance audits

Will work closely with product development department to create product specifications and standards

Responsible for supervising quality assurance team

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field.

Required 5-7 years’ quality experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite in addition to knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.

Experience with Food Safety Audit expectations and requirements preferred

Working knowledge HAACP and GMP principles preferred.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to use a keyboard and telephone. Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting 50lbs, ability to adjust vision for close vision work. Occasional exposure to airborne dust, high humidity and extreme heat are possible in the plant.
