This position is responsible for effectively managing and
implementing policies and programs as they relate to food safety, quality
assurance and food defense. This person monitors and assesses manufacturing,
purchasing and logistic operations from a food safety risk, and program
compliance for the entire company. The Director serves as liaison between
operations, purchasing, grower relations, and, sales to ensure all
specifications are pertinent, current, accurate and followed.
This position works closely with senior management to
maintain impeccable quality and cleanliness standards on an audit-ready,
every day basis. This position assures compliance with federal and state
regulations including HACCP & FSMA program guidelines.
Responsibilities & Duties
development, implementation and management of all aspects of quality
programs. Includes maintaining SOP's and product specifications for all
products. Evaluation of current practices and implementation of quality
assurance program changes.
for management of HACCP & FSMA regulations.
compliance with applicable laws, regulations and food safety and defense
standards issued by the FDA and other federal, state and local agencies
involved with food safety activities. Maintain up to date records for
compliance with federal, state and HACCP regulations.
for ongoing employee training activities designed to keep employees
knowledgeable and informed of SOPs, methods, and Good Manufacturing
Procedures. Also ensures that standards for personal hygiene are met and
implement corrective actions where needed.
with plant managers and supervisors to assure compliance with SOPs and GMPs.
all co-packing facilities for the manufacture of company products.
closely with sanitation department, third party and other related resources
to manage sanitation program and address deficiencies/problems.
environmental, pesticide and micro testing programs including ongoing
laboratory testing of analytical methods. Address deficiencies with
appropriate personnel and implements corrective actions where necessary.
and manage customer quality inspections and the administration of quality
surveys and requests.
closely with industry workgroups and other agencies to ensure the company's
ongoing participation in all aspects of the industry's food safety programs.
technical guidance on the purchase of materials and equipment related to food
safety and sanitation issues. Oversee and manage programs to audit vendors.
corporate recall programs and policies so that product can be successfully
withdrawn or recalled from market if necessary. Review and keep current.
training of plant operations related to food safety, sanitation and QC
procedures and programs and ensure they are being implemented and followed.
train and evaluate staff. Ensures that all GMP and sanitation procedures are
followed in all areas.
follows and enforce all GMP's (good manufacturing practices), Safety and Food
Safety at all times.
operations are closely monitored and supervised. Suggestions for improved
productivity are provided.
employees are effective, efficient, and well supervised. Support is provided
ensures cooler temps are at the appropriate temperatures at
Bachelors' Degree in food science or related field.
of ten years of supervisory food quality control and quality assurance
experience in manufacturing.
experience with HACCP programs.
in developing and implementing quality assurance programs.
communicator with the ability to develop and manage diverse teams.
communication, organization, problem solving and analytical skills.
understanding of the QA role in the overall impact of the business.
of regulatory and food safety and defense knowledge and experience.
to supervise and manage a department of seven to eight people.
ability to solve problems as a team in critical in this position.
development experience preferred.
be able to use a computer including MS Office software and Outlook email.
