Brief Description

This role will drive supplier and internal compliance to Schreiber food safety and quality requirements through auditing.  This role will coordinate internal and supplier food safety audits and follow-up processes. This role will work with internal locations and suppliers to identify gaps and implement robust solutions.

Detailed Description

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Perform food safety and quality audits of bulk cheese, ingredient, copack and packaging suppliers
  • Work with suppliers to ensure appropriate audit follow-up
  • Assess and report compliance through audit metrics
  • Conduct risk analysis, prioritize and manage auditing related projects of various scopes


Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to the organization in terms of food safety, quality and sanitation initiatives
  • Coordinate and/or support initiatives in conjunction with Enterprise Quality, Sales, Operations and other functions as appropriate
  • Perform home office SQF internal and Schreiber food safety and quality systems audits
  • Work with home office and plant leadership to identify gaps and sustainable solutions
  • Coordinate, innovate and provide food safety and quality training to Operations, Enterprise Quality, Purchasing, Suppliers etc.
  • Together with the leadership team, ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, in addition to customer requirements. Interprets and communicates customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups. Establishes and Audits PCPs, CCPs and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, to ensure customer requirements are met. Reviews incidents during which the procedures are not met, and determines appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures.

Job Requirements

We're looking for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments.  Requirements include:


  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology or closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing (food safety and quality)
  • Must be organized and proficient at prioritizing
  • Proficient auditing skills coupled with food manufacturing savviness and experience
  • Mid-level understanding of Microbiology and Food Science
  • Sound computer skills and understanding of process excellence methodologies
  • GFSI experience preferred
  • Dairy and PMO experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Past training experience including presentations to various groups
  • Computer and report writing skills
  • Ability to lead without having direct reports
  • Working collaboratively to gain alignment with others and drive for results
  • Experience with government regulatory requirements
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data to drive decisions
  • Team player with problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to assess food safety risks and understand complex environments
  • Desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities
  • Ability to travel up to 75%, mainly domestic with the potential for international travel
  • Multi-plant experience preferred, but not required
  • Internal partners: Minimum two years of experience in current role
