Overview - Develops documents, oversees, ensures implementation, and reviews programs, standards, and procedures related to food safety and quality assurance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Examples include programs related to CGMP’s, HACCP, allergens, product recall and traceability, customer complaints, formula control, non-conforming program, sanitation effectiveness, pest control, foreign material, chemical control.

Assists in leading the plant in assessing food quality and safety and other initiatives to improve products and processes related to quality, food safety and consistency. As a key member of the plant quality management team, you'll provided quality and food safety training to employees.

Responsibilities

  • Advises plant on all areas of HACCP, ensures compliance
  • Maintains a working knowledge of USDA | FDA and industry quality assurance codes and standards including labeling.
  • Builds upon understanding and knowledge of USDA regulations in regards to the meat industry and HACCP.
  • Ensures food safety and quality records are controlled, accurate, complete and current.
  • In charge of the day-to-day monitoring of CCPs (e.g. room temperatures, metal detection, etc.)
  • Completes daily quality checks by performing fat analysis testing
  • Perform microbiological testing on the environment and products
  • Conducts and leads meetings and oversees the HACCP team
  • Serve as facility regulatory lead on interaction with USDA and FDA authority
  • Assists with food safety training as necessary
  • Monitors the production staff to ensure that food safety programs are being followed and work with employees in refrigerated areas
  • Lead, support and develop facility to obtain GFSI Certification
  • Oversees third party and regulatory audits; ensures robust corrective action program
  • Conducts internal audits to access performance against polices, practices and standards
  • Develop and implement supply chain programs to ensure safety and quality of incoming raw materials

Qualifications

  • HACCP, Seafood HACCP and PCQI Certification Required
  • BS (Food or Meat Science, Chemistry or Microbiology) preferred
  • Willing to work 1st shift (4:30 am - 1:30 pm

Skills Required

  • Must be detailed oriented with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Bilingual is a plus

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have previous quality assurance experience in the meat industry and GFSI certification experience, solid knowledge of USDA regulations and policies, ability to handle customer and global standard audits, experience in addressing quality and food safety issues from both a corrective and a preventive position.

Salary: $40,000.00 to $60,000.00 /year
