Position Name: Food Technologist
Position Location: South Holland, Illinois

Based in Homewood, Illinois, Carl Buddig and Company has been feeding family traditions for more than 100 years with the very best in taste, variety and convenience. Buddig offers an assortment of quality, thin-sliced lean meats for sandwiches, snacks and special recipes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide product and operational development plans that align with company business opportunities and available manufacturing/packaging technologies under direction of Dir. of R&D.

Assist in the development and direct the implementation of plant level new product development process that includes new ideas, continued cost saving projects and improved cross-functional understanding and execution of company plans.

Work directly with formulation, packaging and engineering departments in executing the development plans.

Working directly with product in pilot plant activities including blending, stuffing and cooking.

Indirect responsibility for cross-functional resources involved in development, planning, and implementation activities involving new products and process improvement of current products.

Provide assistance in development of product and costing specifications related to new products and the re-formulation of current products.

Provide periodic project updates to the Dir. of R&D.
Maintain accurate records and reports

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Candidate must have knowledge of all Microsoft Office Programs.

Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Must be able to work in various temperatures (office/lab/production).

Must be able to work in a high speed environment.

Must be able to stand and/or walk for up to 8-9 hours per day.

Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds

Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week.

Must be able to work mandatory overtime if necessary.

Must have good hand/eye coordination.

Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).

Must have basic Mathematics skill.

Must be able to travel as required. (possibly overnight)

Ability to multi-task, with the personality to operate in a lean, conservative, mid sized company environment, wherein the individual will both manage and create.

Demonstrated communication capabilities that promote participation, education and information sharing, while setting high personal and departmental deliverables.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Ability to legally work in the United States is required.

BS/BA Food or Meat Science preferred.

Minimum 3-5 years of R&D experience with increasing responsibility and demonstrated success.
