JOB SUMMARY

Intern Ė Food Safety Compliance serves within our Quality Services (QS) team, will be responsible with helping to develop our food safety programs to meet the requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).  Additional responsibilities include but not limited to applying knowledge, leverage their education, assimilate and insightfully analyze information from a variety of sources to prepare guidance and reports, training guides, and recommend initiatives to assure food safety and quality and meet FSMA requirements. This person will interface extensively with other departments to share information and maximize synergy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Research and analyze FSMA regulations and guidance working in collaboration with QS and Legal personnel
  • Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and training guides on FSMA
  • Develop training tailgates and information on FSMA compliance and assist in the dissemination of this essential information to our manufacturing facilities
  • Assist in the maintenance of corporate QA food safety and quality management processes and best practices
  • Apply insights to prioritize improvement opportunities; leverage experience to develop improvements in the companyís food safety SOPs and GMPs
  • Become knowledgeable in the current GMP practices at TWG and how they meet the requirements of FSMA and FDA
  • Works with appropriate departments to keep informational paperwork current including: FSMA/GMP guidance documents, Food Safety Statements of Guarantee for ingredients and processing aids and packaging materials
  • Works with QS Managers to develop sustainable GMP audit/inspection program for all facilities to promote continual improvement

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelorís degree or undergrad in pursuit of Bachelorís degree. A degree in Food or Agricultural Law, Regulatory Affairs or Food Science is preferred
  • Must be a college student; Junior Level in coursework, or above
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, the Internet and computer aptitude
  • Availability to travel if needed
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks of fulltime work
  • Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills with attention to detail
  • Provide good verbal and written communications to all levels of management, both internally and externally
  • Prioritize while able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Work independently within set guidelines
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team/crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Position operates in a professional office environment
  • Ability to travel to different sites
  • Working environment has exposure to both indoors and outdoors and related warehouse/production equipment and associated noise levels
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
