Helps to develop and foster a high performing team of certified quality technicians and to build a culture of defect prevention in the plant.

To assist in establishing, implementing, and monitoring quality systems and processes. Works with personnel in all functions to identify root causes of problems in the production process and facilitate appropriate corrective and preventive actions. Ensures timely and accurate COA generation for customers.


Supervise the Quality Technician team

  • Provide work direction to support plant operations
  • Interviewing, hiring and training of employees
  • Carry out appraisal, coaching, and management of peformance
  • Problem solving for department issues
  • Ensures compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules.

Manage analytical equipment programs (maintenance, service coordination, calibration)

  • Ensure calibration of equipment
  • Perform or coordinate maintenance when necessary
  • Evaluate and justify investment in instrumentation required for testing
  • and team members
  • Ensure internal auditing program is active and effective

Initiate methods & procedures to measure the effectiveness of the quality process

  • Review existing test methods and procedures and recertify work group to those standards
  • Validate new methods and modifications to current methods
  • Perform gauge R&R analysis

Troubleshoot quality related problems to support operations group

  • Direct the containment and data collection activities for material as issues arise during production
  • Facilitate Material Review Board meeting and execute material disposition

Lead Certificate of Analysis Program

  • Manage review of incoming COA’s and work with materials management to address deviations
  • Ensure timely delivery of customer COA’s per specification requirements

Participate in Continuous Improvement Activities

  • Knowledgable about Lean tools (kaizen, 5S, etc.)
  • Standardize work processes through teams
  • Facilitate improvement activities
  • Utilize appropriate quality tools to drive improvement (such as SPC, flowcharting, Cause and effect diagrams, Paretos, etc)


  • Performance management and techniques of high performance teaming
  • Principles of fostering a safe work environment
  • Principles and practices of analytical instrumentation and testing for physical properties (tensile strength, gas chromatograph, coefficient of friction, dimensions)
  • Knowledge of business processes and accompanying quality system requirements (i.e. receiving, material flow/purchasing, shipping) including the use of ERP software
  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., blown film extrusion, rotogravure printing, flexographic printing, injection molding, winding, converting)
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for food packaging, Good Lab Practices, FDA and regulatory requirements
  • Experience executing quality system best practices within a structured quality system (ISO, AIB, SQF, FSSC, BRC)
  • Proficient in software packags: MS Office, Outlook, Minitab
  • Principles of mathematical and statistical computations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Positive interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work with people who have a wide range of functional knowledge and experience
  • Analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, and implementing recommendations for resolution of problems.


Bachelor’s degree in technical or management field

Relevant quality certifications (ASQ, AAOC) - preferred

Prior supervisory experience required

Prior Lab Management and or method development preferred

Physical effort and dexterity:

Able to work at a computer for extended periods.

Able to walk throughout the plant.

Visual acuity, hearing, speaking :

Able to effectively communicate verbally, including on the phone.

Able to visually evaluate print quality, work with computer monitors.

Environment and scheduling:

Job is full time, dayshift hours with expectations of working flexible schedules when business support needs arise. Office and plant environment.
