Quality Assurance Manager – Quest Nutrition - Los
Primary Function /
Primary Goals / Objectives:
- Responsible for managing large,
complex projects; manages the Quality Assurance aspects of projects,
from beginning to end, with direct accountability for product safety
and product quality aspects of the project. Works with multiple functional
groups to negotiate QA related project deliverables and assures their
- Works with functional group
peers to define required ingredient, product, package, and process attributes. Works with R&D to assure
processes used in development can be duplicated in commercial
operations while maintaining cost-effectiveness, safety, quality, and
collaborate across all operational, technical, and commercial functions at
all levels of Quest Nutrition, including Co-Manufacturers, and other
outsourcing organizations to assure product performance and efficacy requirements
are fulfilled in Quest Nutrition products
- Responsible for oversight
and/or preparation of Quality documentation to support
policy/procedures, methodologies, formulation changes, specifications,
etc., and supports appropriate design reviews.
- Monitors ingredient, product,
process, package quality performance and identifies quality related
issues and trends.
- Works closely with R&D and Supply
Chain Operations on problems of diverse and challenging scope
requiring innovative solutions guided by policies and practices.
- Knowledgeable in the areas of product
technology, quality and safety risk assessment, and statistical
- Exhibits proficiency in product
related calculations and knowledge of relationships between
regulations, labeling, manufacturing processes, and product/package
- Establish and
execute policies, procedures, processes, and principles that complies with
quality and regulatory requirements, assures appropriate monitoring
and evaluation, and successful change control execution
- Identify/gain agreement on product
development criteria related to quality and safety, negotiate
compromises, balance quality with other criteria across the necessary
functional areas to support cost-effective manufacturing

B. S. in
Science Related field (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or other
technical science area); Masters
degree a plus
- Proficient technical writing
skills; able to effectively and concisely communicate technical issues.
- Ability to effectively organize
and communicate technical information
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements
for nutritional products.
- Knowledge of
quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to
work independently and/or function with minimal supervision.
- Must be able
to maintain a high degree of accuracy and analytical thinking.
- Minimum 5 years
working experience in the food/nutritional industry and experience in
the scale- up and commercialization of product introductions.
This position reports to
the VP of Quality. The position ensures
that all Quest Nutrition products meet the highest standards for safety and
quality required by regulations.
