Key areas of responsibilities

  • As a member of the product development innovation team, assist in the execution of product development projects that include product concept validation, processing trials and physical, chemical, sensory tests of finished product, at laboratory and pilot plant scale
  • Prepare ingredients for trials, produce benchtop samples of finished goods for testing
  • Perform various routine lab tests, including but not limited to analytical quantification of soluble solids, pH, moisture content, as well as external and internal assessment of various quality attributes depending on the product
  • Maintain accurate and complete records in written and electronic form
  • Perform calibration of laboratory equipment; keeping inventories of supplies for laboratory use
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe working area in the pilot plant and Product Development lab, and return clean supplies, tools, and equipment parts to designated storage areas
  • Provide support to all Product Development efforts as needed by participating in research projects, meetings and other activities carried out by the team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in food science, plant science, food engineering or related fields
  • Curious and eager to learn, passionate about food
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with food materials and laboratory instruments
  • Must be detail oriented; open to learn how to monitor equipment operation and production processes
  • Familiar with Google docs, Google spreadsheets, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and quickly learn other software as needed.
