JOB TITLE:  Food Technologist, Pulse Ingredients

LOCATION:  Bridgewater, NJ

REPORTS TO:  Associate, Global Applications

 

Ingredion is hiring a Food Technologist to support the global launch of new pulse ingredients including executing experimental campaigns, developing and producing product prototypes, supporting the delivery of technical materials, customer documentation and collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers to drive business.

 

As a Food Technologist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing prototype creation, formulation campaigns, bench-top evaluations, various characterization tests with pulse product range (including flours, starches and proteins) in several different applications, including bakery and snacks, dairy and beverage and meals and meal components.
  • Supporting project managers for customer visits, general technical service support, application testing and trials on pulse portfolio.
  • Along with oversight of management, helping to deliver high quality presentations and written reports to demonstrate and communicate results to stakeholders. Keeping appropriate records to support internal and external clients/customers, including IP strategy and support of patent activities including literature patent searches.
  • Working with global teams to understand project timeline and market needs, defining shared work plans and gaining support and input throughout project timelines.

 Qualified candidates will have:

  • BS degree in Food science/Food Engineering or equivalent technical field with some relevant work experience in flours, pulses, starches, proteins and fibers.
  • Experience with hands- on prototype formulating or product development and scale-up experience. Training in Culinary Science is a plus.
  • Strong understanding in Food Science with proven ability to apply food science/engineering principles to solve problems.
  • Familiarity with experimental design, statistical data analysis and interpretation of results is highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills and solid proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively communicate an interact with cross-functional teams
  • Up to 20% domestic travel required to visit customers, run tests at external facilities, and visit other Ingredion facilities globally.
