We are looking for a Food Safety Program Manager
to join our team.

Our vision for Food Safety is to support Amazon’s mission of offering the widest selection of products available, while protecting customers from potentially hazardous products. We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Worldwide Food Safety Operation Integration Team as a Food Safety Program Manager. The position will be located in Seattle.

This role requires working with internal food safety stakeholders and business teams across the company to develop innovate solutions to pre-defined food safety requirements using high level process/system solutions. This role is expected to leverage food safety experience and knowledge while influencing cross-functional business and development teams. Managing project timelines, resources and stakeholder communication are required for on-time and successful launches. This position involves regular communication with our field food safety managers and project sponsors on status, risks and change control. Cross-team coordination, project management and written communication skills are essential. High-Level Summary of Deliverables
· Research and benchmark Food Safety industry best practice for product handling processes including receipt, storage, transportation and disposal of food to ensure the safety of Amazon customers
· Work directly with Regional Food Safety Managers and Amazon Fulfillment Centers, Delivery Stations, and Transportation facilities as well as Amazon Corporate Program Managers across all food businesses to develop and implement procedures which comply with national and state regulatory standards
· Work with a broad set of stakeholders including food safety operations, retail, operations, engineering, and legal to develop project objectives, timelines, and roadmap
· Work with regional food safety managers to continuously identify, communicate, and create improvement opportunities across all food businesses
· Partner with internal food safety stakeholders to develop and roll out new procedures and training programs
· Leverage technology to manage compliance processes
· Create and monitor business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness


· Degree in food science, business management or related field
· 3+ years of experience working in food manufacturing or retail environment in process improvement, project management or operations
· 2+ years of experience as a project/program manager (time may have been earned concurrent with the above 5+ years of experience)
· Demonstrated project and program management experience
· Demonstrated experience creating sustainable processes with mechanisms used to ensure compliance with process
· Knowledge of food safety laws and regulations and communicating requirements to non-food safety associates
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Exceptional organizational skills
· Ability to work independently and autonomously
· Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements
· Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team, including adherence to core values and dynamic corporate culture
· Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
· Ability to travel domestically


· MBA, MS or MA (Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Retail, Manufacturing or Equivalent)
· Six Sigma/FMEA experience
· 2+ years of experience analyzing cost/benefit of proposed projects
· 7+ years of experience managing Food Safety and Quality in a large scale retail or manufacturing environment
· Experience as a food manufacturing QA manager, auditor, or similar
· HACCP plan development experience (basic and/or advanced HACCP training)
· Online/retail experience
· Six Sigma/FMEA experience
