Position Overview
The Quality Manager will provide leadership for the quality and food safety programs
Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and management skills to a Quality Control/Quality Assurance department of 15+ employees
  • Manages and provides support to Sanitation Supervisor and Sanitation Department
  • Implement, manage, maintain, and ensure compliance to the Quality and Food Safety Systems that consistently meet regulatory, customer, and third party audit requirements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain employee training program in conjunction with other department managers to ensure compliance to the Quality and Food Safety Systems
  • Utilize customer and consumer complaint data to identify root cause, then communicate and provide support to implement process and product improvement
  • Analyze QC data to measure, access and improve product quality performance.
  • Perform and manage regulatory / quality / food safety audits
  • Communicate compliance results from audits and regulatory statutes to relevant departments
  • Primary contact and responsible to manage regulatory certifications such as Organic, Kosher, Gluten Free, Non-GMO, etc.
  • Manage ongoing department development to ensure seamless support to Research & Development, Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Accounting departments
  • Communicate with customers / suppliers as necessary to bring new products to commercialization
  • Manage department schedules, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions according to established protocols
  • Manage department budget
  • Manage lab equipment maintenance
  • Attend industry conferences as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Food Science (or related field) and a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Quality Assurance Manager in food manufacturing (or related industry). OR Minimum 5 years of Food Manufacturing experience and 3 years as a Quality Assurance Manager.
  • The ideal applicant will have experience working with all natural and organic foods and be HACCP certified
  • Must have a solid understanding of Federal and State food safety regulations and third party standards such as: SQF, AIB, NSF and GMP
  • Experience with and knowledge of Sanitation practices in a food manufacturing setting
  • Must be organized, have excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Must have good computer skills including MS Word and Excel
  • Experience with analytical testing
  • The ability to promote change and a willingness to spend time in plant with employees during all shifts
