The Director of Food Safety and Compliance develops and implements all corporate level food safety programs at all company processing facilities to comply with corporate needs and to meet regulatory requirements that lead to food safe manufactured products. The Director acts as a food safety resource to the processing facilities, other departments and the Technical Management Team.


  • Develops, maintains and implements all corporate food safety policies, SOPs and programs.
  • Writes, reviews and revises corporate and plant level food safety policies, programs and SOPs to ensure alignment with current regulatory requirements, industry standards and corporate objectives.
  • Interacts with regulatory authorities and customers when sensitive issues arise.
  • Oversees corporate food safety audits, develops audit programs and reviews audit findings and corrective actions findings with operations management.
  • As a member of the Technical Management Team, provides expert input from experiences and knowledge in the development of other corporate policies and programs.
  • Acts as a resource and food safety expert for Sales in balancing customer food safety and testing expectations, industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of current industry and regulatory requirements; FDA and USDA.
  • Reviews and guides facility management in Root Cause Analysis; corrective actions and preventive measure for effectiveness in addressing issues. Follows up on implementation and outcomes.
  • Reviews weekly and monthly facility environmental reports to track activities and identify issues or trends.
  • Hires, trains and develops internal audit personnel.


  • BS in Food Science /Technology, microbiology or related field or a minimum 8 years food safety, technical management or quality management in a food business.
  • Proficient computer skills; email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experienced interaction with, sales, customers and or regulatory agencies; FDA, USDA
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and team building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical or non-technical audience using a variety of style to achieve a specific goal
  • Ability to work and think quickly under demanding conditions
  • Experience with HACCP , Internal Auditing, SQF and Food Safety Plans
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret a variety of technical documents, regulatory guidance, research studies.


Working Conditions

  • Office and food manufacturing environment
  • The environment may be wet or dry and temperature may range from 25oF to 110o
  • Travel approximately 30% of the time.
