General Statement of Duties:
The Quality Assurance Assistant Manager works closely with the Manager in
championing quality assurance throughout the organization. They use
fundamentals in food/cereal science, food microbiology, training and process
engineering to efficiently produce safe, high quality products. The Quality
Assurance Assistant Manager works directly with the Plant Manager,
Maintenance Engineer, Purchasing Department, Manufacturing Staff, and
Customers. They are responsible for communication of food safety and quality
standards to suppliers, and plant personnel through training, corrective
actions, audits, and continual monitoring.
- Assist in managing Giusto’s Food Safety & Quality Manual (FSQM)
through HACCP principles, GMP principles, established pre-requisite
programs, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development and
execution of effective training programs for new and current employees
in accordance to the FSQM.
- Assist in hosting customer and
third party audits (FDA, QAI, SQF,Kosher,
etc.) and ensure identified corrective actions are executed.
- Participate in the
documentation of customer complaints and respond with appropriate
conclusions based on relevant data.
- Responsible for the analysis of
new and modified regulations, directives and notices with respect to
food processing (i.e. FSMA updates, Organic Regulations, etc.).
- Ensure incoming product, raw
materials and packaging conform to specificationsheets.
- Evaluate issues of
vendor-supplied products to determine if possiblerisk
is likely to occur.
- Communicate with senior
management and staff on a weekly basis, at minimum, to continuously
improve Giusto’s food safety and quality
- Collect and analyze data to
improve product specifications and create certificates of analysis.
- Support the HSE Manager and
Plant Manager to meet KPI targets.
- Perform internal audits,
identify root causes and corrective actions, and verify completion of
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food
Science, or related scientific field.
- HACCP Certified and knowledge
of food safety principals – PCQI Certifieda
- Minimum of 3 years Quality
Assurance in a food manufacturing.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Computer skills, such as
Databases, Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Proven effective management,
communication and motivational skills.
- Must be able to work in a
facility with major food allergens (wheat,soy, milk, egg).
- Familiarity with BRC or SQF,
- Energetic, self-motivated and
the ability to act quickly.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
