Position Summary:

Responsible for evaluating, developing, enhancing and applying scientifically and technically sound processes regarding food safety and sanitation in Dawn facilities globally. Teaches plants how to successfully implement these processes. Educates and trains key employees in the application of new and existing technologies relative to food safety.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops global food safety policies and programs
  • Coaches business unit QA and plant operations in the effective implementation of global food safety policies
  • Develops food safety related processes and technologies to be applied in business unit operations as necessary to assure compliance to regulatory and customer requirements
  • Provides technical support to assist operations in achieving effective application of underlying science to food safety programs, e.g. thermal process validation
  • Provides oversight to assure effective implementation of food safety tools, policies and processes
  • Develops methods and processes to improve existing food safety and sanitation capabilities in Dawn operations

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in a food safety and quality role with responsibility for program development and management at a plant or corporate level
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or Food Engineering required; Master’s preferred
  • Experience in HACCP, FDA FSMA requirements, food safety technologies
  • Experience with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Access and Outlook
  • Self-Starter – must be able to work independently
  • Position requires 60-75% travel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, prioritization and negotiation skills.
  • Subject matter expertise in food safety; government auditing practices; and proven track record of food safety program implementation.
