Director of Quality Assurance / Safety
This position is a hybrid of the Quality Assurance and Safety Manager roles for efficiency. This person leads the company safety programs, training, and compliance while working with multiple department leaders to promote a safe work culture. The Quality Assurance aspect manages the facilityís food safety program, food defense program, and the Quality Assurance lab and its employees and duties.
The goal of this individual is to promote workplace safety along with food safety over multiple departments.
Safety- Duties and Responsibilities:
-Responsible for all aspects of the Company Safety Program and effectively working with various Department Managers and their supervisors to promote a safe working environment. This person will also develop recommendations to improve workplace safety or work practices.
-Maintain and update the Company Safety Program manual.
-Lead company safety training programs and activities by conducting monthly safety trainings.
-Analyze workplace accidents and near misses to create recommendations for reducing future workplace injuries.
-Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, maintenance of OSHA logs, and OSHA reporting.
-Lead accident investigations, oversee claims handling, and coordinate First Injury Reporting with insurance carrier.
-Provide initial medical evaluation and determine appropriate actions up to transporting injured employees for further medical treatment. Coordinate to supervisors any work restrictions or follow up appointments. Provide transportation from FFI for follow up appointments as needed.
Quality Assurance- Duties and Responsibilities:
-Ensure liquid egg products meet or exceed internal and customer quality specifications by working with the Breaking Plant Operations team (Production and Sanitation) for compliance with GMPís, SOPís, and SSOPís.
-Management of the Quality Assurance technicians- including scheduling, hiring, and training. Oversee daily product sampling, microbiological testing, fat testing, pH testing, data reporting, supply inventory, and eggshell quality reporting.
- Analyze microbiological data trends and communicate any necessary corrective actions.
-Schedule monthly visits with service vendors and schedule any further sanitation processes.
-Evaluate the Food Defense program via internal and external annual audits. Annual review of Food Defense Plan and Food Defense Manual.
-Participate in Food Safety/HACCP Committee monthly meetings and plant inspections. Provide monthly lab testing data trend reports. Initiate mock recalls and report results.
- Manage AIB Food Safety Program including internal audits, documentation verification, and annual audit.
-Excellent presentation, written, and verbal skills.
-Computer efficiency with an emphasis in Microsoft Office and Power Point.
-Ability to work with non-English speaking co-workers and multiple management levels in a professional manner.
-Must have or be able to obtain First Aid CPR, OSHA 30, HACCP, Fit Testing, HAZWOPPER, and Food Defense certifications.
-4-year degree in food science or related, or combination of education /experience.
-Flexible working hours as needed for training or injured employee assessment.
-Bilingual- Spanish a plus.
