Position: Full-Time Hourly

Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Hours: 2nd shift 3:30pm- 1:00am

Location: Harlan, IA

Report to: Quality Assurance Supervisor

Position Summary:

To strive for quality products and processes which consistently meet product specification requirements and customer expectations; monitor and maintain compliance with USDA regulations and requirements; consistently implement requirements set forth for maintaining the highest standard of food safety for products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement Quality Assurance and regulatory procedures according to established guidelines
  • Provide guidance, counsel and recommendations to employees within Operations regarding good manufacturing practices, product specifications, food safety
  • Obtain and maintain accurate records to determine consistency of product quality, compliance to regulatory agency requirements and documentation of HACCP
  • Perform analytical analysis on product produced within the plant
  • Maintain accurate lab records and verify accuracy of testing samples
  • Furnish appropriate accurate verbal and/or written reports to the Quality department and plant management regarding product/process quality and consistency, research test, process capabilities, USDA situations, HACCP
  • Interact daily with sanitation management, operations supervisors and employees
  • Be committed on a daily basis to routine Quality department requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Food manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Good communication skills, high attention to detail, basic math skills.
  • Previous Quality inspection experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with the regulatory guideline requirements for HACCP.
  • Work environment includes normal office to plant operations with very cold/hot conditions.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Able to work at a fast pace within a team and a diverse workforce environment.
  • Regularly required to push/pull/move 50 lbs. or more. Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to service equipment
  • Required to use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Regularly required to operate lab and inspection equipment, must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Must be flexible and able to work overtime and weekends.
  • Quality, safety minded, reliable, precise and self-motivated.
