Food Safety Manager

Job Purpose: Assures quality food products and processes by establishing and enforcing food safety programs, plans, and quality standards; testing production; documenting results; managing staff.

We are looking for a professional to support expected business growth and take charge of our Food Safety Management Program. Anticipate a work environment that requires a wide spectrum of responsibility, innovation and engagement.

Duties:

*Manage the established Food Safety program, deliver continuous improvement and change as needed.

*Develop team member’s technical and professional skill-set through mentoring and training.

*Conduct Internal Audits

*Review customer and supplier ‘specifications, making sure they comply with all programs

*Special studies and projects. Supervise plant trials and start –up activities

*Establishes food safety program by developing ingredient control and storage policies including purchasing specifications, incoming inspection procedures, equipment cleaning and sanitation procedures and schedules, personnel sanitation procedures and training, and time-temperature inspection methods and schedules.

*Develops food safety plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.

*Establishes food quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures. *Maintains and improves product quality by investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.

*Prepares food quality reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends. *Complies with federal, state, and local legal regulations by studying existing and new regulations; anticipating regulations; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

*Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in food quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Requirements

*Food science, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent BS degree

*Strong interpersonal skills

*Ability to rapidly and effectively respond to changes in project scope and quickly learn and apply new concepts

*Statistical analysis/Math skills

*Excellent communication skills both written and oral

*Strong organizational and planning ability

*Capable of working under minimal or no supervision and present work upon completion for overall adequacy

Salary: $60,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year

  • Bachelor's
